We didnât plan for ADHD at Disney. We planned for magic.
Instead, we got meltdowns, goat hugs, and a crash course in sensory survival. From Tom Sawyer Island to Rafikiâs Planet Watch, we found calm in the chaosâand learned that sometimes, the real magic isnât in the fireworks. Itâs in the goat butt.

On July 7, 2025, something quietly beautiful ended in Magic Kingdom. The Liberty Belle steamboat, Tom Sawyer Island, and the winding Rivers of America officially closedâmarking the end of an era where exploration, imagination, and breathing room still had a place amid the whirlwind of Disney magic. It wasnât just the end of three attractions; it was the farewell to a rhythm that offered stillness in the noise. My familyâs last visit in 2019 reminded me of that magic, when my sonâoverstimulated and vibrating with Disney excitementâfound peace in the rustic, winding paths of Tom Sawyer Island. He ran himself calm, and we found our own breath in the process. Thatâs what this space gave us, and itâs why saying goodbye stings just a little more.

I still remember the first time I saw MuppetVision 3D*. It was 1999, and my husband and I were on our honeymoon, wide-eyed and soaking in every bit of Disney magic. We wandered into the Muppet Theater not quite knowing what to expectâand walked out completely smitten. That 3D spectacle of bubbles, chickens, and corny jokes instantly won us over. From that moment, it wasnât just a showâit became our tradition. And now, after 34 years of laughter and chaos, it's hard to believe the curtain has finally fallen.
